For many families, “boy or girl?” is one of the first questions they wonder. Knowing whether you are expecting a male baby or a female baby let’s you start thinking about names, or planning a nursery that much sooner.
It used to be that you had to wait until your baby was born to find out. Knowing got a bit easier with the advent of sonograms to determine the sex of your baby, but you have to wait until about 18-20 weeks into your pregnancy, and your baby has to cooperate with their position. Sometimes a sonogram can even be wrong!
Sneak Peek Clinical Testing
The Birth House has partnered with Sneak Peek testing to offer a simple blood test that can tell you as early as 8 weeks whether your baby is male or female. The test is performed in our office in just a few minutes, and results are available as soon as the next day!
How does Sneak Peek work?
While every person has their own DNA in her bloodstream, a pregnant person’s bloodstream also contains DNA from their unborn child. SneakPeek looks for male chromosomes in a small sample of the pregnant person’s blood. If male chromosomes are found, that means baby is a male. If none are found, baby is a female. SneakPeek is 99.1% accurate at 8 weeks into pregnancy.
